Many dental problems, such as toothache, need to be treated as quickly as possible, Therefore, you should not wait multiple days, weeks, or months before coming to the dental clinic for a consultation. We know that time is often of the essence, which is why we are rolling out a new initiative for both our new and current patients: the emergency dentist.

An emergency dentist is a dentist that operates outside of our regular opening hours. This means that whether you are suffering from toothache or another problem, you do not have to have booked an appointment during our listed opening hours to get treated. The emergency dentist is even open on Saturdays and Sundays. If you are experiencing lasting and increasing toothache, we recommend that you book an emergency dentist appointment so that we can take a look and potentially treat the problem.

However, as a rule, it is not a good idea to postpone dental treatment.

Severe toothache

Generally, there is no easy way to relieve severe toothache. Even if you can ease the pain with painkillers, the best thing you can do for yourself is contact your dentist and make an appointment. Not only can we find out what is causing your toothache, but we can treat you and get rid of your pain for good. Severe toothache can and should be treated by an emergency dentist. It almost goes without saying.

Severe toothache can be caused by many factors. It may be due to a tooth fracture, sensitive teeth, or cavities. The only way to determine the exact cause is with a professional examination, conducted with both the right knowledge and the right tools.

If you are suffering from severe toothache, do not hesitate to get in touch with your local emergency dentist. We will do our utmost to see you as soon as possible.

Dental trauma

Typically, patients choose to contact an emergency dentist if they are experiencing severe toothache. However, traumatic dental injuries to permanent teeth should also be treated as quickly as possible. For example, you may have been unlucky enough to chip a tooth or knock a tooth out of place – or out completely. These are sudden injuries that require immediate attention, as the success of the treatment will depend on how quickly action is taken. For traumatic dental injuries, we first conduct a short trauma examination to diagnose the issue and then administer emergency treatment accordingly.

There is no guarantee that knocked-out and cracked teeth can be set in place again, as it depends on factors such as how the tooth or tooth fragment is stored and how quickly the person has been able to get help. To ensure that the knocked-out tooth does not dry out, which will complicate the treatment, it needs to be kept in your mouth or water. In the unlikely event that a tooth or tooth fragment cannot successfully be reattached, we can artificially build the missing tooth. A denture can and will often be considered.
